The Prefecture of Heraklion is an Organization of Local Administration of second grade. It provides public authority. It administrates local cases. It conducts civil services and works that have been legally charged by the State. The Prefectural Administration plays significant role to the Developmental sector of the Greek Region because:
- It deals with the problems of its county on a daily basis
- It can exactly determine what must be done in the original, secondary and tertiary sector of production
- It can cut down on bureaucracy and encourage the new businessmen
- It can promote the qualitative development and simultaneously protect the environment.
- We aim at the development of the employees of the Prefectural Administration. It lets them take roles and initiatives. As a consequence, their capabilities are enhanced and they contribute to our program effectively.
Although we, as Prefectural Council, have got different programs and practices, there is a strong feature that unites us. It's our common passion for our County. We dream a society of public participation in developmental and cultural events. We dream a society of democratic dialogue and combination of different opinions, ideas and approaches. We struggle for the best of all the citizens of our county without discriminations.
